The Autism Program at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign

Resource Room is OPEN – It is always safest to call (217-244-1395) before coming in to be sure someone will be there to help! 

The Resource Room is currently on summer hours (beginning May5, 2022) due to our students being on summer break.  We will be open Mon-Fri 10 am-3 pm.

Visiting the resource center will be a bit different due to Covid-19. Although the resource center will be open, the relatively small space will require more limited access. Only 2 visitors at a time will be allowed in the room.  We strongly encourage you to call ahead before coming in. Call us at 217 244-1395. When you call, we will talk with you about what you are looking for help with so we can be prepared to assist you more quickly when come in. 

Many different types of materials are available in the TAP Resource Room.  All of our materials are free, and can be customized to meet individualized needs. TAP staff and student interns are available to meet in person or via phone/email to collectively brainstorm creative problem-solving solutions. Many of our materials can also be translated to Spanish. These materials include:

  • Books and DVD’s for checkout
  • Teaching kits containing structured teaching activities for checkout
  • Learning aids
  • Flyers, articles, brochures, and booklets from local, state, and national organizations which are free to the public

Our friends just call us TAP*.

We are a community-focused program of the Department of Human Development and Family Studies and the Department of Special Education at the University of Illinois.  Our Resource Room is housed in the Family Resiliency Center and provides a place where families and professionals can find information or preview materials that might be helpful to them.

We focus on:

  1. Providing a resource and referral center for parents and professionals.
  2. Developing and evaluating model programs in training, treatment, and family support.
  3. Facilitating collaborations between agencies, schools, and individuals that enhance the community’s capacity and quality of services for individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) and their families.

Funding is provided in whole or in part by The Autism Program of Illinois and the Illinois Department of Human Services.
